Re-connecting deliberately switched off ABS
I purchased a 2001 156 JTD a couple of years ago. After a few months I realised the ABS wasn't working. At the time I decided to live with it as I have mainly driven cars with no ABS in the past. However, with the new MOT regs now coming in to force I need to get it fixed (no ABS light on start). I had a non Alfa chap with a diagnostic machine supposedly fix it by replacing 2 sensors. He claims the diagnostic machine now says the system is all running, but the ABS is still not kicking in.
He did not try and get the ABS light working so I am thinking that who-ever switched the ABS off did more than just extinguish the light and also somehow fully switched it off.
The question is are there any obvious places to switch off the ABS from that I could check?
To help with any thoughts, the ABS light does not come off on start and neither does the brake/handbrake light (this also does not come on if the handbrake is pulled on).
Thanks for any responses.
