156 twin spark

Reving whilst stationary

I have a 156 twin spark and recently it is reving up and down whilst stationary. When i touch the throttle it settles back down, any ideas what is causing this??

Many thanks

It's your Idle Control Valve - I remember my 156 'hunting' on tickover and a new Idle Control Valve cured the problem. Good luck!

Give the idle control valve a tap with the head of a screwdrive.... Preferably a Snap On :P

Had the same problem last year, cost bouncing on idle, then one day it wouldnt even idle unless I held the throtle open. Didnt hear any buzzing from the idle control.... Lightbulb moment.. Gave it a tap with me screwdrive and problem solved! Idle'd lovely.. Better than before
