Please Help. 156 JTS misfire.
Was hoping someone might be able to lend some advice.
I have a 04 plate 156 2.0 JTS. Its done about 100k.
Every so often the (mcsf/mscf?) light comes on, with a "go to dealer" message accompanied by a tirade of bleeping.
I have read a few things on here about what it could be but what seems weird about my scenario is that it only occurs for 3 seconds at most and then goes never leaving the engine light on (as though it has corrected itself)....
It's very intermittent. I drove 30 miles to a friends and it happened twice, on the way home nothing.
It seems to happen when i'm accelerating, I get a very brief loss of power and then the light and bleeping.
I've read the codes:
P0300 Misfires detected (generic) Signal High Stored Light ON
P0301 Cylinder 1 Ignition failures Signal High Stored Light ON
I have checked for the common "oil down the well" and all looks ok. I believe the sparks are fairly new, although I may swap them round as I read someone else on here did the expensive things then realised his new spark had a crack in it! I have swapped coil packs from 1 to 2 and the fault remains on 1 so it's not them. I had the wires on top (loom?) checked for breaks and they seem fine.... although have not had the wires to the injectors looked at (quite difficult to get to apparently?)
I'm hoping it's not the injectors and have had different advice on this. Some peeps say they fail, others say they don't.
I have noticed my battery is not great - someone mentioned this could bring up codes?
Any ideas where to go next?
