im not wanting it to be an argument, i just try my best to tell the facts when it comes to diesel cars, over 80% of there owners believe magic torque figures make them virtually untouchable on the road.
its clearly not the case, as i explained the relation between torque and power in a previous post.
as for virtually everything? not to sound like a **** but have you driven a fast car?
my GT is a 04 (oldest model) thanks for the info regarding ARBs ill look into it.
And as I said never been a diesel fan till I bought this, I don't go round saying look how much torque I have or real off stats to say my car is faster than xyz. I was on a clear road for 10 miles and he tried to get away from me on every single straight and until I caught him up he didn't seem to be accelerating on the straights. So I can say for sure from real world experience the 20v is a fast family saloon on the road. I drives nothing like any other diesel I have driven
Depends what you mean by fast car? St220 is a fast car, my 200sx was a fast car with rwd, also had an r32 gtr and driven an mr2 turbo and my friends lotus exige, did a 14 second 1/4 mile in the 200 which is good as 200's are not great off the line, and I have driven faster cars than those...
I am not using figures to claim my car is magic just I kept level with what is\was the fastest production hatchback. So I know I have a fast car. Ok I am not talking fast as in a 500bhp beast or a gt.
And besides what does it matter I ain't claiming my car is the fastest on the planet that will beat an m3 or supercar... just it was a match for what is a very fast road car...
Re the ST, yes it handles well but it is a little heavy and steering rack is not quick so feels not quite so nimble through the real twisties and it understears a lot quicker and at lower speeds than the veloce. Also the fact power doesn't really kick in till 4000ish rpm and red line is at 6.5k means it actually needs a lot more gear changes than a diesel to get the best from it on twisties, keep hitting limiter as it feels like it should go another 1000 rpm but then ford should have gone to cosworth as the duatec lump isn't the best and would probs not last very long (you can't even tow with one ford didn't sign off towing weight cos radiator is too small and it would overheat if they allowed towing lol).
The only reason I listed the numbers is cos I had looked them up for my own curiosity as some extra info due to the fact I could keep up with vectra...
Got my brembo 4 pots ready to go on
My veloce is quite flat through corners does not heal badly or feel heavy up front but then all arms were done and it has gt alloys which will increase the track a little as well. Yeah I probs will want to upgrade handling if I chip it but it's fine for moment... big brakes first
