How to change a seat regulator on a 147

Egonís :How to change your alfa 147 seat regulator
Aka ďmy uppy downy seat wont go down...Ē

You can do this with the seat still in the car.
Disclaimer: I did it like this. You donít have to. No responsibility is inferred and if you mess it up its down to you!

The offending handle. Head in the headlining? This is the culprit!

Here you can see two of the three torx screws that hold the side cover. Iíve already prised the side cover off the handle under which is two more torx bolts that holds the handle on.
Raise the seat all the way up.
Springs arenít funny things!

Heres the third. Its at the back of the seat looking up from the floor.
Remove all three. the cover wont come off completely but you dont need it to.

Removing the bolts reveals the mechanism itself.

Undo the three torx bolts that you can clearly see here. If you havent got the seat fully raised at this point, the seat will try and do its impression of an ejector seat and you may hurt yourself. so raise it!

Leaves you with this. Grab your replacement one and bolt it on. The gears mesh up and refit in the reverse order to stripping it.

Dont bother stripping the old unit to see if its fixable, i tried that and its not. It has a plastic bit that breaks and it doesnt look replaceable...
