2L JTS 156
Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or past experience that may help me solve this unusual issue?
3 minutes into the drive to work my engine stops, much like what would happen if you broadside around a corner on a race track (fine one minute, off the next). I got the car to start first time immediately after it had stopped and I only caught a glimpse of an oil pressure switch (?) warning on dash display while the engine was off.
I finished work and tried to start the car, with the first try with the key it just turned over with no misfires or anything. The car started immediately with the second try as if nothing had happened.
There are no error codes stored on the ECU so I am at a bit of a loss.
The car has had a new catalytic convertor welded in about a month ago so maybe the heat from the ark has disturbed something or maybe itís to do with the fact that the mechanics didnít disconnect the battery which has resulted in a bunt terminal somewhere.
Another thought is that it may not be ignition related but fuel supply related; the car does have a second hand fuel pump in it. However, my main suspicion lies with the wiring as I have been having audio and window electrical issues due to ****ty door connectors and bumpy roads.
I have previously eliminated the known lambda wiring and big purple plus brown connector (at rear of engine) issues. I doubt it is alternator or battery related as the lights still went when the engine stopped and when I tried to start the car after work the engine turned easily.
So any ideas?
P.S. If you say MAF I won't believe you
