Interesting central locking/alarm problem
I bought my 156 with a central locking problem (apologies for the length of this post):
When you pressed the button on the key fob to unlock the doors, the alarm gets disabled but the central locking went a bit crazy. It unlocked all the doors, and then locked it self again. I found the best way to get in was to press the key fob whilst is was right next to the door, and timed opening the door when it was breifly unlocked. When I did this, the doors all went through a process of locking and then unlocking (four or five times!) before settling down and staying unlocked.
When I finished in the car and wanted to lock it up, the key fob would only set the alarm, not do the central locking. I got in the habit of manually locking all the doors from the inside and then just locking the drivers side outside with the key. I could then set the alarm and it would be nice and secure.
This all changed today though, I needed to get some welding done on the sills so I dropped the car off at my local garage. When I picked her up this evening, the central locking now works when I open the drivers side door, but the alarm will not set! The key fob flashes when I press the button, but nothing happens
I assume that this has something to do with the fact that the battery was probably detached for a few hours while the work was being done.
So, does this indicate that there is a problem with my alarm, my key fob or is there an alarm reset process that needs to be done?
