engine temp problem
Hi I've owned my 2003 Alfa 156 s/w 1.8 since 2004. High miles mainly motorways still going great guns. Erratic engine temperature through winter/summer seasons.
Winter -engine takes up to 10 -20 mins to warm up & temp gauge barely moves to above 50 & settles there. If a mild winter temp gauge can reach 75, heater in car is barely warm even on max setting. Summer - car warms up quicker & will reach 90 on gauge at 70mph... increase travel speed to 80mph & temp gauge rises to 100, also if air con is used 110 reads on the temp gauge. To control temp in hot weather on motorways i drop travel speed down to 60mph, this brings temp down to 90. This has happened for last 2 years I've thought of replacing the stat & engine flush & fresh paraflu coolant...
First 5 years of ownership....cold starts car would quickly warm up & temp rises to just below 90 then fall back as stat opens up to settle just above 75 on gauge, staying consistent. Any help/ suggestions, sorry to ramble on.....thanks
