If you change the oil every 12,000 miles then you should use synthetic. The car only "needs" semi-synthetic but in my experience although the oil lasts okay (feels firm and springy between your fingers) the oil is usually very black by then and leaves gum and varnish behind.
Synthetic is just better able to clean and retain the gum from your engine.
Flushing helps to dissolve some of it.. but if you use a high-detergent oil (synthetics or a semi-synthetic @ ACEA A4 classification) then those will do the same job.
If you flush the motore, then you could be thorough and run some cheap oil through the engine just to remove the flushing agent ... but I wouldn't bother.. just let it drain very thoroughly. Flush is just paraffin (kerosene) and any residue will evaporate out of there pretty much in the first 5 minutes you use the car.
Since you're in the desert, I'd guess oil costs 2 dirhams per litre or something... so it's not too dear to bin the old oil now and fill with the synthetic.
No bullets for Chaingun..
