After spending a lot of time researching these forums over the past few weeks, I took the plunge this weekend and purchased a GT.
It is a 1.9 JTD, black with tan leather interior and 18” wheels
I love it!! The previous owner had it remapped by Angel Tuning as well as fitting a Raggazon exhaust and enclosed induction kit.
It drives really well (bloody quick actually!) but I do have a few problems/queries if anyone can help:
• Driver’s window/mirror switch broken – all of the electronics are fine but the plastic buttons on top are broken. I can’t find a part specifically for the GT, but I have found one for the 147 on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3208549331...84.m1423.l2649
According to a search around the forums, the 147 unit should work but I would need to get a proxy alignment… Is this correct? Also, if I can just transfer the plastic buttons on top without changing the box underneath, then that would surely avoid the need for a proxy alignment – has anyone done this? Anyone selling the plastic cover on its own?!
• Cigar lighter not working – I’ve checked the fuse under the steering wheel and it’s fine… However the car came with a Parrot kit installed. Is it likely that the Parrot is taking this power and if so is it easy to change? As I need a charging point for phone/sat nav.
• It is on 83k miles, so the standard 84k service is due soon. I’m in Nottingham and I’ve noticed Alfatecnico get good reviews on here. However, I had a look at their website and the servicing prices seem quite high compared to the likes of Alfa Workshop in Royston. Is there anywhere else around Nottingham which you folks would recommend for good service and reasonable pricing?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer and I look forward to joining in with the Alfisti community!
