Looks as though this subject has been well covered, but i'll ask again and if anyone is kind enough to reply, could they do so without using tech speak....thanks!
Last month i purchased a secondhand 147 TS Lusso Selespeed (2001). Absolutely loving it and enjoying the whole Alfa owner experience. However, when I got the car, the owner only had 1 key. So it makes sense to get another. I phoned my local Alfa dealer who said that it would cost £154 for the key and a further £88 to programme it. Thinking that rather expensive I looked on ebay for a replacement key. Looks as though I could get one for about £10. So, lets say that I get one of these keys, replace the "blade" to the one that matches my existing key. Will it work without reprogramming it? I am more than happy to open the car manually so not bothered about using the blipper. My current key starts the car okay even when i take the battery out of the fob. So I am thinking that it would work as it seems that the "starting" of the car is not reliant upon reading the chip in the fob. Any advice would be greatly received. Thank you for you time in reading this.
