video's, poor quailty:
So the 1st 10min's or so was quite nerve racking. ??? I was driving & thinking of all the bits & pieces that I had removed & fitted with other parts & had I ALL the bolts tighened ???
BUT the car felt GRrrrrrrrrrrrEEEEAAATTTTT from the 'get go'
The i had an issue with condensation within the car, heater on full, fan on full car fogging up badly. Turned out the water spray form the left rear wheel arch was coming into the boot area fulling the tyre well with water & the mist was going all over the inside of the car. So I had call back in to sort that issues, check wheel bolts & fluids & gone out again a'red flag' happened :.
My second outting I was more confident, I starting chasing down a '05 M5 & caught him on Dunlop, then I spun off at Turn 1 into the gravel trip, the M5 drive smiled politely at me. I was able to drive out. It took me 3 laps to chatch & pass him again when I politely smile back at him. From then on it was catcing & passing time for Pat. Nothing was able to stay in front of me, M3's, Civic Type R's, Merc ???
The Yokohama AdvaNCE TYRES WORKED BRIALLNT UNDER ACCELERATION BUT WERE SKITTISH UNDER BRAKING. We tried standard 'w' rated Conti Sports on the front for a few laps, while better under braking they spun like hoors under acceleration. So back on went the Yoko's:
From 4.30 to 5pm I was 'in da zone' I was in my element, drying track, good selection of cars out, An Evo5 was out on track behind me & he wasn't able to catch me. Marshalls waved & nodded as I passed.
THEN the AUX belt broke when leaving Honda [ turn 1 ] , in the back road entrance & onto the trailer. No belt, no water pump. Not sure why it broke, possibally a stone damaged it, will know more tomorrow.
In total 68.5 miles done, 2 hours of track time, 1/2 tank of fuel used.
Should have said, the Bilstein B14s with the Eiback coilovers were excellent, on a drying track the car felt planted to the ground, when the arse stepped out the suspension stayed level & tyres gripped well, all contolable. Barring the out braking manouver on my 2nd lap in the 2nd session [ brian fade ] the brakes worked 1st class.
