I left the engine idling for 15 min's in order to get the engine up to temp, checking for air locks & that the fans works. While it idled I removed door wiring looms & enhaled the fumes
I kept an eye on the temp guage, it headed for 90, no fans, got half way between 90 & the next mark, still no fans, so I pulled the connector out of the temp sensor, BOTH fan ran at HIGH speed. So i stopped the engine after it had cooled down to 90'ish. Turned out BOTH resistor were defective, one had broken a solder joint & the other was open circuit. Better to find out today than on the 17th
I wouldn't mind but I had checked them before fitting the fan assmebly to the coolant rad 3 days ago. I guess removing it & fitting it again upset the 2 resistors. Both are replaced & both fans now work as required.
Also during this idling I could hear a grating noise, turns out that the Power Steering pulley, its bearing is collasping, & the outter wheel is rubbing off the inner section. Looks like I'll have to replace the PS pump in the afternoon. I have a spare, thankfully.
