Cambelts again

Have read plenty of threads on petrol engines but how about the oil burners. Do the same rules apply ?

My 2.4 jtd has just had its 36k service and dealer only lists it for inspection at 48k and change at 72k. Not to bothered as its still under warrenty but would like to know for when this expires.

Re: Cambelts again

Touchwood, the 5 pot JTD seems less likely to throw a wobbly in the cambelt department and most seem to be going happily to 72,000 miles. One fly in the ointment though is the auxiliary drive belt which can delaminate and strands can worm their way back to places they shouldn't and jam pulleys and so on. So that belt needs checking and changing along with the cambelt.

Re: Cambelts again

Last time I asked this question someon tried to tell me they didn't have a cambelt

Agree with Rick, they may well go to 72k easily but I might err on the side of caution anyway and get it (or try myself!) at about 60-65.

Thumbs Up Re: Cambelts again

I was just about to ask this question as I have a customer whose Sportwagon is in next week for its 36K service!
