Different car I know, but my 156 did this. It's most noticeable when you're driving slowly around town etc, but the noise was totally intermittent. Mine was a sticking pad at the rear. The fix was easy, strip the rear pads out, clean all the mounting surfaces and reassemble with some copper grease in the appropriate places. Clean and grease the sliding pins and check the handbrake cable moves freely.
On mine, both the inner pads were stuck pretty well in the caliper bracket- in so much as they need a good go with the screwdriver to release them.
The only thing I would say is my noise went when I touched the brake pedal.. which you say yours doesn't? Either way, it's an hours' work to remove, check, clean and refit so I'd do it anyway!
