Dealers - Surely they are not all bad........
oh yes they are....
Booked the car in 2 weeks ago for a couple of problems, squeaky brakes/front wheels again & a loose selespeed downshift paddle.
Asked the dealer for a while-u-wait appoinment needed to be there at 8.30am
Arrived at 8.34am (traffic) they said I was too late for the while-u-wait, pointed out that that i was just 4 minutes late and that they were being rather picky, service receptionist went to check with the service manager - 10 mins later, car went into the workshop!!, sat down sales manager (ok chap) bought me a coffee & had a quick chat, hour later, receptionist came back with the results, would have to order a new selespeed paddle as the pivot clip was broken - covered by warranty, and asked for authorisation to chamfer the discs & clean the brakes for 70.50+vat - stated that this was the second time the car had been in for the same problem 1st time at 2800miles & now at 8100miles, first time was free under warranty also asked what was causing the squeaking - receptionist said the cause was "braking"!!!!!!! - she went to find the first job card for the original problem 15mins later she said that the work the first time was not under warranty the manager just did free because the car was new!, anyway asked to to see the service manager and wanted an explanation as to why after 8100miles i have a problem & why it was not covered under warranty? 15mins later went through to the workshop to have a look at the car - front wheels off up in the air - service manager showed me a lip round the edge of the discs and said it was rubbing, asked why the problem had happened he said do you brake hard? only when I have to i replied, um he replied "well they have taken the asbestos out of the pads & they are harder now and alfa are using softer material for the discs" so i will get on to warranty to check, will give you a call.
so 2 hours after arriving they had removed & refitted the 2 front wheels & removed & replaced one screw on the selespeed paddle to check it.
at 1pm got a call from the receptionist to book the car back in next wednesday to have all the work completed under warranty, a courtesy car will be provided..........this will be the last time that dealer touches the car.....guaranteed!!
