Death or mercy for my 147?
Could really do with some advice
I have owned my 147 for 2 years now and the tax and Mot are due in 2 weeks. The car is a bit of a lemon do has a scary *umber of faults. The options seem to *be:
A) Throw money at it and get the faults fixed
B) do the minimum and run it into the ground
C) throw in the towel and sell it on eBay with no reserve.
D) set fire to it!
The faults are:
Water leak somewhere hard to find so the car smells of mould in warmer weather. Had the aircon vent cleared.
Rust patches on the bonnet where a spray job was botched
Minor damage to offside bumper
Engine sounds like a n old diesel.
Clutch judders really badly
Passenger seat tilt sticks
Tyres are near the limit
The front suspension *creaks like an old galleon
Needs a service and probably brakes
The engine vibrates quite a bit and sound rough as old boots.
On the plus side
It's a 2005 model with 44000 allegedly genuine miles.
It doesn't use much oil or smoke, it starts on the button and pulls strongly in every gear and the gearbox is fine.
I have been very disappointed with my 147, my 1972 GT junior I owned before it was a joy to drive and the engine note was brilliant ... This started sounding like an old taxi about a month after I bought it.
At a conservative estimate I reckon the full job is around £1800 to £2000 which would make the car worth about £2000! Could I scrap it and *e better off?*
Help!!! I have no Iidea what to do!*
