Windscreen wiper problem

Hi all

I'm a proud owner of a 156 Sportwagon 1.8 (2001). Had the car for 5 years and it hasn't let me down once, apart from the occasional electrical blip.

This morning, however, cleared the snow and found my windscreen wipers don't except for 'full speed'. The intermittent and slow speed doesn't work at all and when you stop at full speed (arm pushed fully down) and cancel the wipers stick wherever I stop them (mid screen, quater). Apologies for the lack of technical jargon, but it seems whenever we have cold weather something happens to the electrics.

Any help and guidance would be fully appreciated.

Cheers, pp

PS: Apologies if I've posted in the wrong place.

Many GTV owners, including myself, have experienced a similar problem. On the GTV it was down to damaged/worn dry welds on the PCB for the wiper motor. The welds can be reinstated if you are handy with electrics, otherwise a new motor is required.

this is handy if you have to change the motor unit yourself..............

Some people have whipped the motor out and cleaned contacts etc. and got it working.
