Any advise as to why the flexipipe only can't be replaced and where to source it if possible ?
On the M1, M2, M3, M5 & M7 engines (std 156s '97-2000 with 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 engines) the front pipe (inc the flexibit) has the part no 60652858 with gasket 46772217 at the joint with the engine manifold and gasket 82473601 at the joint with the cat [according to the the Offical Alfa Parts CD].
The exhaust comprises 1. manifold, 2. gasket, 3. front pipe, 4. gasket, 5. cat, 6. gasket, 7. rear pipe, 8. rear silencer. If yours is different to this then the part nos. will be different.
The easy way to see if you can replace the flexibit (on your actual car as opposed to what it says in a catalogue) is to get under the car and see if it has a flange at either end of the flexibit. If it doesn't then you can't (unless you want to weld in a new bit on the old pipe
Its not a difficult job to take off the whole front pipe yourself as long as you don't shear off the fasteners at the manifold joint
The cheapest front pipe (at £75) appears to be from Exhausts Unlimited though I can't vouch for the quality
Hope this helps.
