I've got a really bad problem with my GT that no garage can seem to sort I've taken it to 2 garages now.
Started off slightly misfiring in the morning, which gradually got worse and now it cuts out in the morning and also fires out black smoke out the exhaust. It's fine when warm but not cold! And has 'Motor Control System Failure'
So... ended up taking it to a garage who changed the glow plugs, EGR valve, fuel filter, ran diags, cleared codes, and it still happens. So, they then blocked off the EGR valve which sorted it for a bit although I had Motor Control System Failure still.
Now, last week went to another garage who changed the turbo on it because they said it might be that.. I'm really stuck now I just don't know what to do to get this stupid MCSF light off and get it running normally again
so so so stuck please help it's costing me hundreds of pounds every time it goes in and I can't afford anymore
At the risk of sounding a bit pedantic
: Doing a forum search on MCSF errors and failures
would have thrown a lot of cheap and chearful fixes up that even the most basic of DIYer could follow and would have saved a fortune in obviously an ill informed mechanic's bill...
Sorry but there it is....
For all to use, glean information from and use..... Kudos goes out to the very unfortunate yet very well informed members who have been there in the same situation and had the foresight to post their findings in an effort to help fellow members

when it comes to reading posts like this...
I really hope you get this sorted out though Lee and I don't mean it to sound rude and ignorrant...
Start at the beginning, clean the EGR valve, the solenoid etc. Check your pipe work for splits, then disconnect the MAF and see if that rectifies the misfire and spluttering... It sounds like you have a culmination of minor faults that are making up a big one...
There are plenty of tutorials to help you on how to do all this and the best part is, all of the above is cheap to do and will help you eliminate one part logically at a time... Don't forget to remove the EGR blanking plate... As John Says above me.... It will only throw up a fault anyway if your ECU hasn't been re-mapped to ignore it....
