I am new to the site and looking forward to conversing with you's over the coming years, I have Just got myself a peach of a GT and could do with some advice if at all possible.
I am new to owning a GT so I would like to be brought up to speed with anything that might need to be done to it to keep it in top condition.
The car is on a 54 plate with 63000 miles, It has a full service history all stamped up in the book and a gov report to verify the MOT/mileage, it has only done 16000 since November 2008, It's a 2.0 GT jts 1 owner from new.
The guy who I bought it off(not the original owner) should me pics of the cam belt that were taken when it was last serviced, he said the mechanic thought it was in good condition and had been replaced at some stage in the past, now I am quite a trusting person but then again I can be quite the sceptic so I don't know if I should take what the guy said on face value and the fact the car has been well looked after by it's original owner or should I pay for it replacing, I suppose the question should be, at what mileage would you recommend the cam belt to be changed?
I flew down to London from Edinburgh on new years eve to buy the car and drove it up the road the same evening, I was going through a bit of bad weather around Cumbria(what a surprise) and then the fog decended to very low visibility, I ended up stamping on the brakes at one point as the road changed direction and the ABS and VDC warning lights came on, this lasted for 48 hours and they haven't been seen since, is there an issue with water getting into a sensor in and around the brakes that gives off this intermittant fault, I live in Scotland so it does rain alot and alot and alot up here
which it has done since the warning lights went out but they haven't come back on again..
Last but not least, as its a low slung front on the GT I would expect a few stone chips etc which there are, the Alfa grill is chipped quite badly is there anywhere to get a replacement other than Alfa?
Sorry for the longwindedness of my 2nd post
