Hey sorry for the delay with Christmas etc things sort of get delayed.
Thanks for the note about the pillars, you ar right there are no airbags in them, they are curtain airbags attached to a metal bar frame work above the headlining.
The C-pillar on the facelift just had 2 screws behind the 'airbag' logos and another screw behind the rear seat backs. The booster/amp is on the left hand side (drivers). My booster did have power and seemed to work well. I always found using my demister made the signal better!!! Bit of a daft design though, the power for the demister that is alot more juicy than that for the booster runs right along the booster circuit board... whats the point! Plus they share the same earth!
The headlining can lower a bit at the back of the car with the two C-pillars removed, but only once you have removed the 3 push fixings in the headlining. They are a right *****! They are meant to side forward, but that would mean removing the A and B pillars too. You can get them out with a screwdriver but it takes a bit of work.
Once out you can see the 22mm base of the GSM aerial and the cable. I was unable to find a suitable 156 October 2004 aerial and loom for my car, so I thought I'd get a DAB/FM aftermarket aerial.
I purchased this and fitted it in place of the GSM. This aerial needed a 12 volt feed so I took that out of the Alfa booster, I also cut and joined the existing FM coaxial to my new aerial. I then used the old GSM cable for the DAB feed. This prevented me taking all the internals out to route the cables.
I used a connects 2, DAB/FM aerial, seems to be ok. DAB is very good, FM is TOO strong, as I get a bit of interfernce, but that might be the sony headunit being too sensitive (it was a bit like that before hand). MW is great though and I get crystal clear LW for the cricket.... that has NEVER happened.
Overall I am pleased, I am a bit annoyed about the FM though, but thats as the signal is too strong, maybe I am just never happy! I could always use my DAB haha. It also allowed me to get rid of my rubbish looking dab screen aerial.
So overall.... good times. I will still have an eye out for a late 156 underbreaking, I might then get the booster and the aerial from it. Just in case i change my mind.
