First place to look is the AlfaWorkshop website .. that shows how to tackle a cambelt change.
Then price it all up and you soon realise it's easier and a lot cheaper to get a specialist to do it! As I did today! Thanks Ned and the guys at Autolusso
!! Looks like mine was a bit out even though it's pulling like a train and returning good MPG values (the exhaust cam didn't line up on the cam lock).
I was serious considering doing it myself as I've recently changed our 2.0 Peugeot cam belt, but that was a piece of **** compared to the TS engine.
You will probably need a cambelt kit (belt, tensioners and idlers), a balance belt kit (if it's a 2.0 litre), a water pump (mine was worn after only 40000 miles!!
), a new auxiliary belt, and you might also need a new variator (if not the low powered 1.6 engine). Plus cam locks and a DTI gauge.
PS Welcome to the forum by the way! And it helps us if you say what engine you have! I'll assume a TwinSpark but 1.6 or 2.0 in your 147?
