147 Selespeed problem!
Hi there, it's my first post on this site; I've already posted this on another forum but I need to get advice from people around here also.
I have a 147 Selespeed 2002, which had a problem few days ago with the electro hydraulic selespeed system, the actuator. The garage says he'll replace the damaged part (which he doesn't know why it got damaged!) but it will cost around $3000. I have the option of getting a used part for around $1000!
Are these prices resonable or am I being set up?
Does any one here know about this "electro hydraulic actuator", how it funcyions, why it gets damaged and if i can be repaired? And eventually ho wmuch does it cost?
The problem is the following (as i understand): the pressure of the elctro hydraulic Actuator should be between 46 and 50 bars (i'm not sure about the exact pressure). What's happening is that whenever the engine is running, you can hear the compressor being activated constantly on an alternative tempo – on and off – on and off – constantly because its pressure is going below 46 bars.
Now on the practical level, when I drive it, once I get to a full halt, automatically the gear shifts to N (neutral) when it normally should shift to 1 (first gear). And sometimes when I’m shifting the gear from 2nd to 3rd, it jumps to N. Also when I’ve been driving for 30 minutes, and the car (gear, engines etc…) start heating up; if the car is at full halt and you shift from N to 1, the gear starts slipping back to N. You should repeat the shifting 2 or 3 times to be able to start running.
Any idea about what's happening? please help!
