156 Buying Hints

I'm going to look at a 2000 156 1.8 Veloce sportswagon tomorrow, it's got 79k on the clock.

Anything in particular I should be looking at or for with regards to potential problems? I'm a bit out of touch with Alfa's, the last one I had was a 1980 Sud 1.5Ti!

Thanks for any help given

Re: 156 Buying Hints

Usual checks are oil consumption & suspension creaks.

With that mileage, make sure that it had it's cambelt & tensioners done recently (should have been done at 36k & 72K).

Re: 156 Buying Hints

Yes.. 79k might be the sort of mileage where the seller was tempted not to go to the expense of that 72k change. On the other hand, it may have been done earlier (e.g. at 60k, as 72k is generally becoming accepted as being one service interval too far for the belt).
