Then moved on to Firestone TZ300s which seemed a similar performing tyre but not prone to feathering.
Just wondering which 156 you had/tyre size?

I'll see how these Dunlops go but will look at the Firestone as an option if they don't last.

I didn't make it clear in my post about Dunlop Fast Response - feathering is not the problem, its the noise that results from this - sounded like both front wheel bearings gone at the same time

Size was 185/65 VR15 i.e. standard for the car but an unusual size/speed rating as far as the tyre sellers are concerned.

If I remember there was a Which? report around that time that rated them highly.
However, all these test reports apply only to the exact size that was tested; the same make but a different size may give completely different results.
My personal feeling is the tyre aspect ratio probably makes more difference to performance than its make, within reason . . .

"Alfasud 1200 Ti - the pink sieve."
"Alfasud 1.3, - Jaguar beater."
"Alfasud 1.5SC - on the roof."
"Alfa 156 2.0TS 1998 gone to Lithuania . . . "
"Alfa 156 1.8TS 2001 gone but not forgotten."
"Alfa 147 1.9JTDm Sport 2007 now sold"
