HELP!! - The Dreaded 'Motor Control System Failure'
Well, it looks like i've joined the MCSF club,
I have a '55 147 1.6TS, which I've had for just about a year and absolutely love however after starting it this moning it felt and sounded very lumpy, like it was running rough or only on 3 cylinders (but without the associated sounds / smells of a misfire) then about 30 secs to a minute later I got a warning beep and the MCSF warning on the dash.
I pulled over and stopped the engine then fired up again and all seemed to be well, so put it down to the cold weather.
Now, i'm getting no warning lights or messages but the car seems very sluggish, getting lots of white smoke/steam from the exhaust and it appears that the engine oil has gone down dramatically.
I have read the other posts about this warning which appear to point to the crankshft position sensor but i'm not sure if that would explain the other symptoms.
Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated. Also if anyone knows a decent, reputable place to get the fault codes diagnosed in the Stoke / Staffordshire area I would be most grateful.
