147 Folding Rear Seat Question, etc.
I'm thinking about buying my wife a used 147 to go with my Alfa Spider. I don't need a pickup truck and I don't normally haul anything more than groceries; however, from time to time I do need more room than the Spider offers. For example, we haul our two large dogs to the Vet once a year for injections. I also occasionally haul a 54 liter demijohn of red wine in our Opel Corsa (I live in Italy) and I'd like to be able to do the same with the 147 since a demijohn won't fit into the boot of my Spider.
I've looked at literally hundreds of photos of the 147 but I have yet to see a photo with the rear seats folded.
I suspect the rear seat bottom rotates through 90 degrees, moves forward, and stows behind the front seats and then the rear seat backs fold down. I also suspect that the resulting floor is not completely flat, but I'm hoping it's good enough for a 30 minute ride for my old dogs, perhaps with a bit of auxiliary padding to level things up.
Can anyone direct me to a link showing the 147 rear seats folded down? If not, can a 147 owner give me a short description of how the rear seats work and how flat the floor is.
I'd also like any comments about the various year models, engine options, etc. I'm leaning toward a 2005 or newer with one of the diesel engine variants. I'm not craving tons of performance (I ride a Ducati motorcycle for cheap thrills), but I'd be willing to spend a bit more money for the larger displacement diesel if there is a good argument (other than performance) to do so. Also, is the front door shorter on the 5 door model than on the 3 door model?
