Alfa 147 -Is cargiant AA Warranty (Premier Guarantee) worth it?
I've just bought my first car from cargiant and will pick it up tomorrow. I was wondering whether its worth me spending the money on this AA cover that the salesman was trying to push at me.
Firstly the car is a 57 Alfa Romeo 147 1.9 JTDm 150 Lusso, with 36k on the clock, with a service carried out every year at 10k,20k,30k and 35k; only the last service was done at a alfa garage. Cost me £6499 (about £6750 after fees and road tax). Its a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I just love the car so much.
The guarantee that cargiant are trying to sell to me covers the following:
Engine, Timing Belt, Cooling, Fuel System, Engine Management, Catalytic Converter, Gear Box, Torque Converter, Transfer Box, Front Wheel Drive, Propshafts, Wheel Bearings, Steering and Suspension, Braking, Casings, Electrical, Alternator, Electric Window Motors, Turbocharger, ABS, Climate Control and Working Materials.
I can take it for 1-3yrs (obviously 3yrs will give me the best yearly rate) and £1000 or £2000 claim limit (but can have unlimited number of claims). £50 excess.
For the three years cover and £2000 claim limit, it will cost me an extra £850; £100 cheaper if I go with a £1000 claim limit. Is it worth it? Is it likely that the turbo will go in the next three years (because if so, it would be worth it just for that reason alone).
There is also no mileage limitations, which is good as I'll be doing 90miles for my daily commute (about 16/17k a year).
Thank you for your help!
