...Just wondered if anyone knew what and where the main component is that controls the central locking, rear demister, electric windows and interior lights?
I had an MSCF failure pop up about two weeks ago. The car still drives without issue ie. the car doesn't go into limp mode.
Having done some searches, I decided the easiest option was to replace the battery in the first instance and fitted a Tayna Numax 027 63AH model (the battery fitted was a cheap low end job). Following the procedures seen in some posts, I waited 45 mins before reconnecting and had hoped that the MSCF would disappear but it hasn't (I assume I will need a code reader to clear the ECU?).
Anyway, prior to the MSCF first popping up, the central locking failed. I then noticed over the last two weeks that the other various components were no longer working either.
One post I found, relating to a '98 TS Spider, seemed to indicate that box N81 (or N83) controlled all of these particular items - Hoorah! I thought. Trouble is I have no idea were it is in the newer 156 and indeed, if its still the same name and does the same job.
I found a detailed wiring diagram on another site but its too detailed for me to follow and has become somewhat lost in translation.
Any suggestions would be welcome (as would the loan of a code reader, if anyone in the Conwy area of north Wales could come to my rescue)
PS: does anyone know what oil I should use to top the JTS engine up with and how can I stop my handbrake freezing during the coming winter months
