Water coming in - how to unblock drains

I have water coming into the footwells of my 147.

I understand the drains under the windscreen are blocked. And if I stick my fingers down the outside edge I did fish out some leaves and cr*p.

But is there some way to get it all out to make sure the leak is fixed?

The water also took out my fan motor and I'd rather not have the replacement go the same way.

Had this in soo many cars, generally there are rubber grommits in the drains which fill up with muck and clog. Need to get mucky and clear them out or alternatively you could try my unrecommended solution with an old golf we had. I couldn't get at the drains without taking off the scuttle and wiper linkages, so with 2 inches of water in the car and getting soaked with the rain I drilled through the plenium chamber. I remember being very pleased with my handy work that day

a write up on my 145 on 145.co.uk may help as a 147 is very similar, you will need to register to view the pics, but the problem will be solved
