Quick question 24V V6

Hi guys.

Quick question here.

Are the coil packs on all the 24V V6 engines the same? Iíve got a 164 that needs new. After market EFI system installers tell me the trouble with the car is the packs and that they can get BMW ones to fit. Iím just wondering if I want BMW bits in the heart of my Alfa? If I the ones on the 164 are specific to that car then the BMW on will be my only option. However if the one on say a GT are the same then no problem I just get a set of Alfa ones.

I had trouble with these on my 1994 164 Super. I cured it by smearng a 3mm layer of RTV silicon sealant all over the bottom of the coil packs. They need a thorough clean first with a degreaser. The coil packs from the later 156 V6 motor are a direct fit and do not give trouble. The 164 packs tend to crack on the under surface allowing sparks to short to earth. The RTV fix is worth a try before spending megabucks on new coils.

Ciao, Alex.
