Hmmm GT 18" tyre pressure

According to the dealers, who have no info from Alfa(!) on this the pressures on 18" wheels should be 2.2 un-laden, 2.5 Laden, in bar, applies to front and rear. However the handbook says 2.5 front and 2.4 bar rear, unladen and 2.8 /2.7 fully laden. The digital display in the car states as per the dealer recommended pressure. This is a long way apart. Does anyone have access to a maintenance CD from Alfa that confirms one or other set of pressures?

Re: GT 18" tyre pressure

I'd go for the manual recommendation when you take in to account the weight bias of the car it stands to reason the front would be higher than the rear as per the manual, the lower psi in this crappy weather might help get the tyre temp up quicker though so its not so wild on the greasy surfaces as well as offering up more comfortable ride, though if its really wet I guess you'd want the higher pressures for reduced aquaplaning, tough one, try both and go with whatever feels good for you, just keep an eye on the wear.

Re: GT 18" tyre pressure

im on 18" rims with Michelin PS2s... jus stick to abt 38-40psi for the fronts & correspondingly 36-38psi for the rears.. tats jus my suggestion.

Re: GT 18" tyre pressure

In general, lower profile tyres need higher pressures.
2.2Bar-2.5Bar is fine for 205/55R16 but I wouldn't run a 225/40R18 at less than 2.5Bar.

Re: GT 18" tyre pressure

I had 2,7 bar in my 18"s summer tires (P-ZeroNero 225/40 XL:s) and it worked fine both in wet & dry conditions. I wouldn't go below 2,5 as David says.
