engine swop

Hi all- I`m new to Alfas and to the forum "very good info by the way" Ive just bought a 2002 "02" 156 turismo 1.6 with a blown head gasket. Rather then mess about with a new gasket and a skim I`d rather put another lump in. My question is as long as the engine codes are the same "AR32104" does it matter if the engines come out of a 2003 147?

If engine codes are the same don't think there should be an issue....some much later 147 have a different sump and the mounting for the intermediate driveshaft is different, but I'd expect the one you mention to be a straight swap.

Worth putting new belt kit on the engine before fitting it unless you absolutely KNOW its been done recently.......
