Please help I'm desperate!!
Firstly sorry for hijacking this post but I've got a similar problem which I need to sort in order to pass my MOT.
I recently decided to rescue a 1998 v6 156 which needed welding. Whilst the interior was out for the welding, I thought it would make sense to bin the tatty old seats and replace them with nice new leather jobbies which I'm assuming were out of a later model for they have air bags and the wiring and the connectors from the seats dont match those coming from the loom.
The seats I removed from the car were velour and didn't have airbags (I've no idea whether these were standard but they did look like they were 18 yrs old!), as I've said the new ones do have air bags which I didn't think would be an issue if I left them disconnected for I assumed the car wasn't manufactured with side air bags.
The problem I have is that the air bag lights are illuminated on the dash, and the cabling coming from the loom beneath my passenger seat is yellow! Does this imply that the car DID actually have seats with air bags originally??
For a moment I thought about cutting the connectors off and connecting the wires by hand, but none of the colours match up and I didn't fancy having an air bag go off!
The wires and connectors I have coming from my loom are very similar to the pictures earlier in the thread. The one coming up beneath the drivers seat is in black cabling and contains two wires, a solid black and a solid blue. The ones coming up from beneath the passenger seat also has two wires, a solid white and a white with a green line, these are the ones which are inside yellow cabling.
Can anyone please advise me a way forward for I'm a total newbie to Alfa's. I don't mind if the air bags in the seats are reduntant, I just need the lights on the dash out!
