Just got off the phone with Alfa UK and the local dealership (I say local more like 25 miles away).
Alfa UK response. "Were sorry to hear about the incident. In order to put a complaint forward you will need to take the car to a Alfa dealership and have them check the car over before we can start a complaint".
My Response "Its just cost me £200 to get the car towed home, now your telling me I need to pay more to get it towed to my local dealership? Dont you have an engineer who can come to me? This thing nearly killed me this morning!!!"
Alfa UK - "No sorry. Give your local dealership a call."
So I rang the local dealership and spoke to a decent down-to-earth guy. He said "Bring it in and we will check it over, but unless you have a full Alfa service history I can tell you now, it'll be put down as not maintained correctly. Also we don't have a body shop onsite so it'll have to be checked here and then taken there."
So I'm faced with the choice of paying out a few hundred quid to take it to a dealership who will tell me since I don't have a full Alfa service history, its down to not being maintained properly....or I go with twinsparkgtv's idea and break it for parts. Though I'm lost when it comes to mechanics, I don't know an injector from a cam belt (ignorance used to be bliss). Scrap it?!?
Insurance isn't an option since I claimed not two years ago and struggle to afford the premiums even now!
Its a very sad day, i love my 156
The one plus of the day is I wasn't injured or killed when the bonnet flipped up!
Thanks for all your feedback. Very much appreciated.
