1of1 I know it was shut securely because I have always had or worked on much older cars and have always just dropped them from a great height to ensure they shut correctly and yes I have always give it a small tug, this was no different, which as you so clearly know is within the guidelines of the insert that is non existant in my handbook! I have made it clear if you read properly that I hadn't cleaned the catch as this has never been an issue on any car i have ever owned and with the insert not been in my book why would I start doing something that on 99% of cars is not required? As you seem to know everything about my car and my circumstances of failure please explain this.
It is a design issue, NOT a maintenance issue. You believe this if you wish but I am not taken in so easily. Parts that are designed correctly do not fail as randomly as mine did.
