New tyres and manifold fixed
Got a new set of tyres yesterday. Eventually decided on Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's after reading good things about them in this forum. So far I'm really impressed. I was advised that they will need a couple of hundred miles before I get full grip, so should get even better. I got them from a mate who works at a tyre dealers and as he owed me a favour I got them for cost (set of 4 plus tracking for £280 fitted and balanced!).
I had (an admittedly knackered) set of Conti Sport Contacts before and the F1's have so much more grip, all the undesteer has gone, and are much quiter over rough or broken surfaces. The F1's look amazing too. So far fully recommended.
I also managed to fix the blowing manifold/gasket problem I have had over the weekend. With the help of a friend we removed the manifold but could not see any obvious signs of blowing. However the face that joins the manifold gasket was quite corroded, so we cleaned this up. Put it all back together with a new gasket and no more blowing. Engine is much smoother now.
As I also had the 48000 service a couple of weeks ago (£185), I'm hoping that's the end of the expense for now!
