Q2 remap removed
I have unfortunately had to have my remap taken off today...
I initially had a map that wasn't at full capacity due to slight clutch slip in 5th/6th. I then had the clutch(uprated CG Motorsport at £100 premium) and flywheel replaced and 'full' map put on. It wasn't measured on my car but in theory this map should be providing 210-230bhp for my CF4 2007 Q2 JTD - it's the 'best' one developed by Gus/AHM. Unfortunately after a short while i.e. couple of months, clutch slip returned in a worse form. I don't mistreat my car and am a careful driver. I tried a milder map but this still did not help much so the garage was kind enough to replace the clutch through warranty with a later revised Alfa part. The clutch was replaced and map corrected, however yet again I noticed some slip in higher gears.
As you can imagine this was quite alarming for me, having spent alot of money on the remap(£360) plus clutch and flywheel and many trips to the garage. The garage have been helpful as they can in order to get this matter resolved, however unfortunately for some reason my car is not suited for a performance remap. This is disheartening as I'd love to have my Alfa running as quickly as it can but now that my car is back on the stock remap I can see why Alfa left it at 150-170bhp. With the extra power I had before, although fun, I could feel it stressed the car's components along with a resulting lack of stability when pushed hard i.e. If I need a faster car I believe I need to buy a car designed to handle the power. However, yes if the clutch did not slip I'd definitely leave the map on. My car is the Q2 with the uprated suspension so I can imagine standard GTs with a remap feeling even more so like they have too much power to comfortably handle.
It seems I am amongst the few who didn't have a success story so if works for you great, but sadly it didn't for me.
(Also I'd like to point out that my garage for this work has been NJS in Pershore whom I have no quibbles with and will most likely be seeing them for my next service)
