Indicator Stalk Niggle

I'm relatively new to the forum and just starting to get to grips with my GT (bought at beginning of Sept) and have a niggle with my indicator stalk.

The twist switch for the lights seems to have "lost" it's indexing, so it doesn't stop halfway for the sidelights and is really difficult to set correctly if I only want to run on sides. It also means that the slightest knock will turn the lights on when I don't want them to. The other stalk has all the stops working properly for the wiper settings luckily.

I'm guessing this isn't something that can be fixed on the current stalk and that I might need a new one. Is this something I could do myself or would I need a garage to take apart the steering column with specialist tools etc?
