Revs dropping under electrical load
Ever since my cambelt change with MAF chnage, my car wont tick over at high enough revs. Its on the red tickover line when cool but drops just below when hot. Then it seems to be that the rad fan, aircon or even full headlights is enough to drag the revs down even further but the ECU doesn`t seem to be compensating like it used to and the car struggles to idle, hunts and even completely conks out sometimes.
I know its the dealers job to fix it but ts clear that they have no idea what the problem is, replacing pipes and bits in case of air-leaks even though the problem is mainly one of when under heavy load from the alternator or ac pump.
Its in the garage for the 4th time tomorrow and I don`t want to have to pay for any more new bits or endless trips to people who can`t fix it. Does anyone have any ideas? Is it possible that the cam belt or auxilary belts can be too tight??? I can only think faulty new MAF or the timing is wrong but the car actually drives very well otherwise so I`m not really convinced and I`m completely guessing. Its got a slight exhaust leak on one of the exhaust manifolds but its really small and it was there before the service too when there were no problems. Emissions are fine too and I have reset the throttle butterfly by leaving the ignition on for 90 seconds.
