156 electronics restarting

I drive an Alfa 156 2.5L V6 and recently the electronics have been restarting, at least I think that's what they are doing.

The car jolts forward a bit similar to what would happen if the car was stationary in first gear and you take your foot clean off the clutch to stall it. All the electronics stop working and then start again straight away. The welcome message comes up on the stereo head unit, all the engine lights and other lights come up and disappear as they do when you first start the car.

If the engine is revving at the time it happens the engine doesn't die and the car is fine, however if the engine is not revving and I am in neutral or have my foot down on the clutch the engine will die when it happens.

It is starting to happen more and more often and I am starting to get worried.
Anyone know what the problem could be?

Check your battery connections - one might be loose or dirty. Next possibility is your ignition switch.
