Apologies for re-opening an old thread of mine but I am now convinced that my car is not getting upto the temperature it should and this is affecting the fuel economy which is pitiful, the car never averages over 40 mpg and with the wife driving its more like 37mpg.
I have been fiddling around with the car again recently and fitted a new MAP sensor because the old one was completely coked, then after fitting I reset the ECU as per the instructions in the sticky. While doing the final drive around I had the laptop plugged in just so as I could monitor the engine temp the ECU is 'seeing'. The result was that in normal driving the engine temp ranges from 78 -82 degrees which I think is too cool and therefore affecting MPG. Before I go to the trouble of changing the thermostat am I wrong????
