Front side light GT
My GT is recently just back from some fairly significant work, Q2 conversion, gearbox rebuild, radiator, underseal and some other bits and bobs. A week later I get a warning light notifying me a bulb has failed. Front side light, no great shakes, I'll sort that myself in the weekend, I thinks. Had a spare moment today so I thought I'd attack the seemingly simple task. An hour later and I'm still trying to get the blasted headlamp back cover off. The two screws at the top of the cover were relatively simple to remove but the remaining two screws further down are almost completely obscured, not helped by the fact that they are screws so need to get square on. Had the cambelt plastic cover, cooling fluid vessel and couple of brackets off but this was futile. Gave up in the end in frustration. Resigned to the fact I will have to remove the front bumper so I can unscrew the whole headlamp to get at the £2 light bulb.
If I wasn't such a sucker for the brand this sort of little inconvenience would drive me to turn to the dark side (BMW). My wife’s Volvo's got an excellent design where with just the removal of two quick release metal fixing strips the whole headlamp can be removed with access to all the bulbs, easy. All I can say is 'hats off to those alfa mechanics' for not going mental during the course of the day to day alfa maintenance.
