i have solid discs on my 156...but was wondering would i be-able to change these solid discs for vented ones without too much hassle.
i have been told by those brake specialists ( rapid fit ) that i wouldn't be-able to if it has solid discs on already

Everything is possible, but vented discs are wider, so you will probably have to change callipers too, not only discs. But it is only my guess.

Re: brake discs again...

I've just had the standard discs and pads on my 156SW changed to Tarox grooved type without any bother the only thing you need to be aware of is the pattern fitting, whether it's 4 hole or 5 hole, if you go to the following site they have a good source of discs/pads for Alfa's

To replace the solid discs with vented discs you will need to change the calipers too.

But as the 156 gets older you should be able to find the calipers for vented discs cheap in a scrap yard - a quick service and they would be as good as new.

Re: brake discs again...

If you check the forum, many poeple including myself, have fitted upgraded discs and pads. Such as drilled/grooved discs and ferrodo Ds Ds2500 pads .

To fit vented discs you will need different calipers for sure. Don`t forget tyres make a difference along with a fluid change.
