OK, so I took my Alfa in for an MOT today and it failed,
It needs 2 rear tyres and a wiper blade.. That part doesn't bother me as it's expected..
The 3rd thing it failed on is Rear Exhaust system not adequately supported.. What this is is one of the rubber supports near the back box broke away, it's been like that for at least 6 months as it caught a sharp speed bump, but it's still supported by another one near the very end of the exhaust near the rear bumper. This is a cheap fix i presume?
The 4th thing is, Nearside Front & Offside (Upper Arms) Suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush.
Now this 4th thing has been on the advisory for the last 3 or so MOTs, thing is, does this have to be done in order to pass the MOT? I said to the guy that it's been mentioned a few times before on previous MOTs and he said, yeah well, it's more excessive now and needs doing.
He's said it will cost £60 for each one, plus 2 tyres, a wiper and the exhaust, he said I'm looking at around £300.. Is that including labour?? Cos if it's not then I'm not even going to bother and I might as well buy another car!
I'm hoping to find some cheaper alternatives so I don't have to take it back to this garage to have the work done and only return it from the re-test since I don't have to pay for that.
Any advice would be appreciated
