Re: 147 2.0ts V's 147 1.9 jtd 16v
ive been interested in the diesel vs petrol issue for quite some time now, reading most of these posts with happy owners, and the claims of them being easily chipped for more power. We are starting to get diesel cars here in Aus too, and with the way petrol prices are going, they will start to make more sense as daily drivers.
I was fortunate enough to drive a BMW 330D a while ago, it was an evaluation car BMW Aus had. This was back when my dad had his 330CiC, so was easy to make compairsons. The extra torque was quite incredible, but it just wasnt all the sporty or fun to drive. It didnt rev out much and there was a considerable let up of power as revs rose. Uve bought a 147, so already i know that u like to 'drive'. Diesels imo dilute the driving experience, and all u have is a car thats quick from the lights, but doesnt sound right or feel right from behind the wheel
keep the TS, it may not be as quick, but with speed cameras now poluting the roads, who cares if its half a sec slower to 60, its ultimately a better driving experience. Diesels werent put in cars to increase the driving experience, theyre only function is to get u more miles for ur $
