M, 2.5 is an S reg 98 so I'm assuming we have the same front pipes. 4 years ago I had a custom stainless system fitted. They removed the cat and replaced this with a silencer. Then a staright through pipe which connected to a back box (all in stainless) and my own choice of tail pipe. I opted for an oval which is slightly larger than the original from the 2.5. This is guarenteed for life. The cat and de cat silencer are interchangeable for the annual mot and cost £20 off and £20 back on again.
After moving back to Jersey 2 months ago It was time for me to register it here. However it had to pass and preliminary test (which it passed this morning) before they would give me my new reg number. My front pipes were both worn through from grounding so I bought a set of both pipes of a shop on ebay, they were £120 minus vat, delivered to Jersey, £10 cheper to mainland UK.
And yes the front pipe off the front bank is about a meter long and is a Y shape. The pipe of the rear bank is about 400mm long and connects into the Y shaped piece before connecting to the cat
Total spend £560 (including £40 for fitting the front pipes) and 2 thirds of it is guarenteed for life............. And sounds amazing!!

Oh..... and the hole for the Lambda is already in the pipe. I was living in the northe east at the time and used north eastern tyres to make my stainless system. Not sure who could make you a custon system in your neck of the woods. Maybe someone else can help you with that.
Owning an Alfa is not a matter of life or death...... It's much more important than that.
