147 & 156 Bonnet Catch Official Recall
Just to let you know that all 147s and 156s in the UK have been the subject of an official recall to inspect & lubricate the bonnet catch.
I have heard of bonnet catches failing and bonnets being blown open whilst driving, so I presume that this is an official response to this.
If you're UK based and haven't received your recall, I suggest that you contact your dealer or Alfa Romeo customer services.
My recall came recorded delivery yesterday, but the recall letter said that it was for a 147 (even though the letter contained all my 156 details). I rang Cust Services and was told that the letter was a misprint, but this recall applied to all 147s and 156s, so it was relevant to my car anyway, whatever the letter said....
The letter makes it clear that you must always close the bonnet by dropping it from c. 30 cms, not by closing it gently and then pressing it down, as this doesn't always engage the lock properly.
(My previous Mondeo had a lovey hand print where someone had tried to close it by pressing it down by hand, so I've always followed the book and dropped the bonnets on my recent Alfas anyway...)
