Dogwagon low temp reading.

Temp when moving is barely getting to the second line, the half way point between 0 and 90. So do i need a new thermostat? Its 1.6 and seems to use fuel not far off my V6!!!

Could my local mechanic fit one easy?

Yep that would be the syptoms of an open thermostat. easy to change as they are on side of the engine above to the gearbox in plain view. shouldn't take more than an hour to do the hole job. When running the car up make sure you have bled the rad first or the airlock will be too great for the pump to overcome and you may have issues. Also run the fans on full with heat at max. .

Easy job, unless your bolts are seized... which mine weren't, thankfully!

Hardest part is getting at some of those fiddly hose clamps....
